We picked a good day to get out and climb to the sky.  There was a high thin cloud layer that provided a nice subtle filter from the sun without being gloomy.  Probably saved us about 10-15 degrees in temp  There were frequent breezes throughout to cool us off, and a slight shower when we arrived at the bench a mile or so before the peak.  It was our first time on this trail.  The slope was pretty steady from the start, but not too steep and long switchbacks were manageable and good to ease into it.  The section about a mile before and after the Wheelbarrow or mid way point had sections hip high brush that squeeze the trail a bit.  I use polls as a habit and had to stagger them to keep from getting caught.  The views to the North as you climb are fantastic – Baldy comes into view pretty early, and you end up with a view of Big Bear Lake near the top.  At the ‘Bench' over look you can see everything from San Jancinto to Apple Valley.
The peak is a small collection of rocks, with trees surrounding it and cutting out a full panorama, like Baldy, etc.  Still views are gorgeous and we're loving these mountain hikes.
The decent was more about time than anything.  A bit rough on the feet as we tried to crank it out and beat the heat as the clouds cleared.  We were up in 4 hours and down in 3.
Looking forward to San G next week, and Whitney the following.
