Till the SD 6POP challenge didn't even know what the SD tallest mountain was. Hot Springs Mt. is located on the Los Cayotes reservation. Gate does not open till 8 am and there is a $10 fee to enter. Trail is in nice condition, only small patches of snow left,  easy to avoid if needed. The top was super windy and cold. We snapped some photos and went to the summit. Once again the wind was freezing, we climbed to the top to get photo of the marker and came down to watch other hikers do it while enjoying some snacks. The views in all directions were spectacular. San Jacinto, Baldy, Gorgonio on one side and Cuyamaca, Volcan on the other. Overall peaceful and enjoyable hike. Wish the gate would open at 6 am  as we prefer to start earlier.
