The first mile is pretty steep, then it levels out after that, making it a nice gradual incline. About 2.5 miles before the summit, the steep incline resumes. It’s very steep and there is hardly any shade. It was a tough hike overall, but a beautiful one with views, trees, bushes, flowers, and the relaxing sound of the creek most of the way.
