Loved this hike which my buddy and I did as an overnight. Starting about 9:30am we hiked with backpacks up to high creek camp where we had a reservation, getting there about 2:00pm. After a rest, we went up to the summit and back with just daypacks. About 15 miles all total that day.  It was hard and long but never crazy steep.  The views from the summit were great. There was plenty of water in the creek by the camp and almost no flying insects. The creek even did a great job of chilling a couple beers that I packed in. Very peaceful except for the frequent airplane flyovers. Apparently it’s right on an approach path for LA. By chance, we had a perfect view of the space station flying overhead in the evening.
