Could not have asked for a more perfect day! We started in the dark a little after 6am and were on the summit by noon. We shed some layers as we went and it stayed relatively warm even as afternoon turned to evening. The bugs came out the last few miles on the way down, but other than that it was perfect.
I had a friend tell me a few years ago this was a super rough hike because it wasn't well marked, but they seem to have remedied that because this was probably the best signage on any trail I've done so far. The top is a bit of a free for all but otherwise I was impressed with how well-maintained the trail was.
We started at Deer Springs Trail on the way up, then came back on the Wellman Divide. The tram is down for service right now, so this was the fewest people I've seen on one of these hikes by far. Beautiful day, incredible views, and an overall delight. Cheers!
