Took me some time to find out for sure that the gates were open for this one. The Trabuco Ranger was awesome and gave some good info. He said that the gates close when it rains because the roads get too slippery. I believe that. We went up the Corona side using Bedford>Main Divide>Maple Springs. Our Crosstrek did just fine, but there were a few hairy spots that we were glad to have all-wheel drive.
Really nice hike and hardly any other hikers on it. We did get passed by a lot of Jeeps and 4-wheelers. Everyone was cool and courteous.
