I was honestly expecting the worst of this trail… we had another heatwave this weekend, plus the many stories of people having issues with the road up to the trailhead. We had an AWD that made it perfectly to the trailhead… would definitely recommend an AWD or 4×4 to avoid damage to smaller cars.
The trail is really pretty up to summit, we had amazing views of LA, Catalina Island, Great Park in Irvine and the surrounding area. Since we started early we finished early to avoid foot and car traffic. Amazing Sunrise and hike altogether.
