Such a gorgeous hike! The best of both California worlds –  start and finish the day at the beach and spend the day in hiking among redwoods, lush greenery and taking in sweeping Bay views from a mountain top!

A long but rewarding day with perfect fall weather. Hiking trails were clear and not busy at all (until you get to that last mile to the top and the people who arrived by car are there too).

Varied scenery, bridges and some nice climbs up rock stairs (and a ladder!) make this hike truly enjoyable.  Start early and plan your trails well- we made a few wrong turns that turned our 16mile hike into a 20mile one.

I’m definitely going to return here with my kids and do a smaller hike from one of the campgrounds up to the peak. I feel so fortunate to have this treasure so close to home!
