Completed the 3-2-1 Challenge Mt. Pinos, Sawmill, and Grouse. Started at 7am, the temperatures were a cool 48 degrees. Compared to all of the hot hikes this summer, this was a welcome change but a bit of a shock. Cooler temperatures all day and most of the people (hikers and mountain bikers) did not show up until later on our descent. Definitely bring layers. Hike itself was easy compared to the other hikes I have done so far in the 6 pack of peaks challenge, but the constant uphill and downhill at altitude made it somewhat challenging even though I did not have the completely wiped out feeling of doing some of the other peaks. Although one can never truly get away from the crowds in Socal, I enjoyed this hike as there were much less people than the other hikes I have done so far. The reports on Alltrails made it seem that Grouse was less spectacular, but I enjoyed that no one else was up there and it was a peaceful summit. Made it back to the vehicle by 1pm.
