What we prepared for was an 8-ish mile hike we ended up completing 18 miles. The trail itself was beautiful there were lots of beautiful wildflowers blooming. The meadow had some great photo opportunities. The weather was nice at the beginning it was slightly overcast and a bit chilly but toward the end of our hike it was pretty hot; some places of the trail didn’t have shade and other places did which was a nice time to take a break. There were bugs on the trail. They were a bit of an annoyance fanning them out of my face. Despite taking the long way up to the peak; the views were amazing and it was a relief to finally make it to the top as well as when we finally got back to our car. The next time we plan this hike we might just take the scramble up to the peak and then go through the meadow on our way back; it would have saved us 10 miles or so.
