Ortega Hwy was packed, so it took a bit longer than anticipated to reach the trailhead. On trail by 9:00 am. Another perfect spring day in so cal. The early portion of the trail has nice tree cover as the trail meanders up the canyon. Passed several large groups, including a boy scout troop. Trail was pretty busy. This was my first time up Sitton, so I wasn't sure which peak I was heading for. It was a bit demoralizing to have such a big elevation drop right before the final push to the summit. The last short scramble is pretty serious. Definitely not a good idea to try it in low-traction running shoes… especially coming back down. had some snacks on the peak and enjoyed the views. Very scenic hike.
