Great Hike! The weather was perfect. We started in the morning, there was not a cloud in the sky and the temperature was perfect for hiking.  The first part of the trail was dry and easy to traverse. Not steep at all. Once you get to the fork you take a left. The trail here starts to get a little steeper. Keep going and the trail gently curves up the mountain. That's when you know you are on the Squaw Peak trail because it is all uphill from there. Straight uphill. It was very muddy and slippery in places. Higher up came the slippery slush and mud. What a mixture! We were slipping all over the place. Spikes helped a lot. Crampons didn't do a thing. We went as a group of 9 of various ages and skill levels.

Although I love all kinds of hiking I would recommend this trail in the fall as soon as the leaves change. It's gorgeous then. Now it's just slushy muddy yuck. The views were still beautiful with the snow-capped mountains to the East and the city and lake to the West.
