We've been planning this hike for a couple of months.  This would be our second time up San Jacinto, first was last summer on a back packing trip.  We started the hike from Marion Mountain around 6:30, the weather was great, a little cold in the shade when you weren't moving, but for the ascent, nice and cool.  We brought along a couple that had hiked San Jacinto before, but this was our first time hiking with them.  The pace was a little slower than anticipated and made for some longer breaks than we were hoping for.  My girlfriend and I made the summit at 6 hours in, the peak was a little crowded.  The clouds were nonexistent, so the views were great, you could see all the way to the coast.  The way back down, apparently a woman had fallen off the trail, the sheriffs helicopter was making passes and there were three cal fire crews staged along the trail towards the Marion Mountain trail head.  Talking with the captain of the third crew closest to the camp site, he said a woman had fallen 70 feet from the trail but could not give specific details.   Overall it was a great day for hiking, it was our first time hiking with another couple and there were a lot of things to take away and learn from the experience.
