Intermittent snow – not hard to cross

I started the hike around 8:30am and it was freezing out! There was some ice on the road on my way up and I questioned turning back to find gloves once I realized I forgot them. I decided to steadfast on and I’m so glad I did! As soon as I hit the trail, I warmed up and went on to a gorgeous snow trail to the top. I was the third person up as far as I could tell by following the snow prints of other hikers. By my return, the snow had all melted and the trail was muddy slush and easily passable. To my surprise, the parking lot was PACKED with people BBQing, sledding, partying on their Presidents’ Day off! It was a fun sight to see. I was relieved to have gotten there early enough to get parking, as there were cars parked for miles down the road.
