Hike Log

Snow won’t stop me!

Trailhead:

Black Crater

Type of Hike:

Day hike

Trail Conditions:

Trail in good condition

ROAD:

Road suitable for all vehicles

Bugs:

Bugs were not too bad

Snow:

Intermittent snow – not hard to cross

Besides a few down trees we had to climb over, the trail was in really good shape. Mind blowing to see all the burn but seeing the wildflowers along the trail gave us hope for new growth. By the time we hit the top the clouds moved away, giving us a beautiful blue bird view. The last few miles had big patches of snow. We were able to navigate to the top without our spikes but needed them on the descent so we didn't slip. Challenging inclines but so worth the work to see all the mountains at the summit.
