One of the best snowshoeing days ever!  It was a bit windy, but bright and beautiful.  Going from Pinos to Sawmill was pretty much off trail most of the time, which made it fairly strenuous at times.  I was the 1st one on the trail so I was making fresh tracks the entire way.  Another group arrived at the top of Pinos just as I was getting ready to move forward to Sawmill so we stayed together for a bit.  They turned back about half way, so when I arrived at Sawmill, I had it all to myself.  This will probably be my most favorite hike for this year’s Challenge.  I know that’s a little premature, but I loved it so much it’s going to be tough to match.

The video attached will barely do justice to how gorgeous it was on that day. Enjoy!

  1. Yay!!! You made it up there! When we got out, we had let the ski patrol know we left behind a guy named Eric! Congrats! It was fun snowshoeing with you!!

    1. Thanks, Mike! I had a blast with you guys too! Makes me laugh every time I watch the clip of everyone yuckin’ it up about taking off with my phone. So funny!!!

  2. Hey Eric, this is Mike (Gaia GPS guy)) along with Leandra and Kim and our group trying to make it all the way. Glad you made it to Sawmill. Was it much further after we left you to rejoin our group? Maybe we’ll see you again on the trails someday.

  3. Hey Mike! Wow…this is awesome, reconnecting with everyone. Was hoping you guys weren’t too worried for me heading out on my own. And thanks, it was great making it to the peak.
Well, remember the ridge right above us? That was the ridge line with the trail. If you haven’t watched my video, I show right where I came out of that valley we were in and the trail was right there. It was schetchy climbing out of there for sure. I’d say we were just about a mile from the peak. Distance round trip based on my device was 7.16 miles and I was at around mile 3 after coming out onto the ridge.
Thanks for your map….I wouldn’t have made it without it.
And yeah….see you on the trail next! Happy hiking!!!
