I hiked Humphreys solo for the first time  as part of this challenge. I left my house in Gilbert at 3am so I could make it to the trailhead around 6am in order to avoid the crowds, the heat, and the monsoon thunderstorm that’s been hitting Flagstaff around mid day… and I’m glad I did because the trail was super crowded and I heard thunder starting about half way down the mountain. It took me longer to descend than normal because there were so many people on the trail. The views weren’t amazing due to the smoke from all of the wildfires around the state and the bugs were annoying at the summit because there wasn’t much wind at that time of the morning. Still, it was a beautiful hike and always an accomplishment to make it to the summit.
