Got to the trail early around 6am while it was still dark. I wanted to get to the trailhead before any crowds and watch the sunrise. I was the first person to summit this morning. The weather was clear, a little chilly, but once I started hiking I started taking off warming layers.  I started the hike using a flashlight until the sun came up, which was such a beauty to watch! I kept a nice pace in the beginning and then about 2.5 miles in is when the incline starts, so naturally my min/mile average did increase as well. There were some sections of the trail that did have hard crunchy snow but crampons were not necessary. This was my first peak of the New Year so I was super motivated, excited, and I am proud of the min/mile average that I finished with.

  1. Congrats! I believe I saw the hat you are wearing on the trail today on my way up to the summit (I didn’t pick it up). I didn’t see it on the way down so hopefully someone picked it up and can return it to you…

    1. Someone actually reached out to me on Instagram, thank you! I’ll have to be more attentive to my gear next hike!
