Trail snow-covered at times – Gear and expertise recommended

Beautiful day with perfect weather to celebrate Paul’s 44th birthday. Minimal wind and sunny/cloudy mix. We could see dark clouds rolling in during our summit but they passed within an hour. Full mountaineering gear and experience needed to summit on 2/18. Microspikes were sufficient to Ski Hut then switched to Crampons from there. More snow is forecasted in a few days so conditions will change. Over all snow conditions were fantastic with good bite. There were areas on/off after the hut that got very icy. My ice axe would not dig in without decent force. Towards the peak there was thick blue ice, but it can be easily navigated in crampons with care. As for the slopes, they were primed to keep you sliding for hundreds of feet without an ice axe if you slip.
