Bugs were everywhere even in my hair and it was the color blue. A red ant bit my friend on his arm. Mountain butterflies floated in the air at the peak and I thought what a great life.  I was even driving home from this hike and I heard a noise in my car. I actually thought a chipmunk climbed in my car when I wasn’t looking and I found myself wondering how I would handle a chipmunk from San Jacinto running wild in my car as I drove down the 15 freeway. This is how many bugs and animals I saw that it made me paranoid. In all seriousness it was a beautiful day, warm and cool and sunny with clear skies. That was until my friend and I veered in the wrong direction at around mile 1 and we found ourselves lost in wilderness. Nothing too bad happened except I pocket dialed a coworker on accident and immediately hung up but of course they called me back. (Like don’t call back, I’m I right?!) I jokingly told the person I was lost in the San Bernardino National Forest and they offered to call a ranger because they could not tell I was joking I guess. 1 embarrassing pocket dial and  30 minutes later of avoiding falling down the side of the mountains, we connected back to the trail. Things only went up from there, literally way up from there. Once I got to the top no one told me it was a scramble, hopping from one boulder to another boulder. I like to be mentally prepared for that and I wasn’t. After boulder hopping I get to the top to find out the sign has been stolen…again! Regardless, took a bunch of Instagram worthy photos without my sign declaring the elevation and validating my ability and enjoyed the grand view of Southern California.
