Man-made steps from the surrounding stone comprise of most of the trail, but there are a ton of them. Ā Your fanny will be sore and your thighs will be thunderous, from the workout they will receive. Ā We did find ourselves using the concrete curb on parts of the trail, as it was easier to walk on than the rough trail. Ā Minimal shade on the trail, so plan your hike accordingly. Ā Not to sound like your mother, but bring plenty of water and be sure of your foot placement, as many parts of the trail have rather jagged rock formations that you traverse. Ā You donā€™t want to slip and cut a femoral artery, which is what I kept thinking the whole hike – ā€œIā€™m going to be featured on AZ Family for all the wrong reasons, if I slip and fall.ā€

One section of the trail has a rail to assist you near the top. Ā There are a couple of benches you can sit on, as you make your way up. Ā Once at the top, you cross through a narrow saddle between two small peaks. Ā Either one is sufficient to consider the top (per the hikers already up there,) however we went to the easterly peak. Ā Again, be mindful of foot placement and hand placement, as the top is made of jagged rocks. Ā There is a spot on the easterly peak that had one small tree/shrub that had a few hummingbirds and butterflies around it.
