Elden, the immediate summit that guards Flagstaff with its watchtower and Radio towers with the town nestled neatly below. A leg burner with a steep incline within a short distance, similar to Bear in Sedona. What this one lacks in distance, it makes up for graciously with its almost staircase trail upward. The birds are various and many, along with some incredible Bristlecone Pines throughout. Came across several friendly hikers, but not that crowded on an early Thursday morning. A little dismayed to find several trucks at the top doing repair work knowing they got up easily, making the strenuous hike feel all for naught, but upon reaching the trailhead, there was a feeling of accomplishment through the hard way. This peak is a must in terms of its underestimation and its proximity.
