1st hike in the 2019 6-Pack of Peaks Challenge. Tough hike in a beautiful area. 14+ miles with over 4,000’ of elevation gain. We were mauled non-stop by swarms of mosquitos ???? and other bugs for more than 3.5 miles just as we passed Sturtevant Camp. It was MORE than annoying… one person in our group had a head mosquito mask/cover and the rest of us vowed from now on to never leave home without one in our packs. There were several downed trees (between 6-10, I lost count) but definitely ways around or over them. Ahhhh, nature… it was a beautiful hike with gorgeous scenery otherwise! The weather was beautiful as well!
