For my first peak I chose Strawberry Hill. Once you see the mountain as you are driving up from the road you will notice it looks like an upside down strawberry.

I arrived on a crisp Sunday morning around 8 am and got one of the last parking spots.

Hit the trail at 8:15. Ten minutes into the hike I was removing my puffy jacket. After an hour I checked my map and had already did two miles. It’s a nice trail no shade but nice views of the mountains. After another half mile is when the trail tries to slap you around and beat you up. The trail gets going up hill and gets challenging. By this time there is no turning around you have gone to far. The top of the strawberry is there and you are going to eat it.

Once you get right about at the top don’t climb the very top stay to the left and the trail will wrap around to a more spacious and better view area.

Once at the top sat down had some snacks. My time up was right at two hours.

I took some photos and then headed down the same way I came up. Time going down was an hour and a half.

Helpful tips

bring trekking poles and use them. Also make sure to use the bathroom before you go. The mountain side is very steep and not a lot of good spots to go.

  1. Congratulations on knocking off your first hike! Since there’s no shade, it’s probably good that you did it before full summer hits.

    1. Yes, I agree I wouldn’t do any of these hikes in the middle of summer most of them are all exposed.
