While the interwebs tout this hike as something along the lines of 7.5 miles, it's really a bit over 9 round trip. According to my fitbit, I climbed the equivalent of 270 floors! Go me! The actual Peak stands at an elevation of 6,165 ft above sea level, as shown in the fabulous sign available at the top. The air was crisp and clean, providing a lovely view down into the smoggy city below. It was a little on the warm side for a hike with so little shade, but I made it through before it got too hot. I was joined on my hike today by a new friend. I do enjoy my solo hikes, but it is nice to go with someone else who shares your passion and pace.
