Hiking partner had never been to the San Gabriels!  Was super foggy and gloomy as we ascended the 2- then we got above the clouds, and the temperatures and weather were perfect, and we had a great time!  Was part of birthday weekend festivities for my hiking partner, who called this day a “perfect day”, so hooray for me!  After this we got tacos at Guisado's in Boyle Heights, which the hiking partner said were the best tacos she'd ever had (which is why I took us there!), then we went to the La Brea Tar Pits, which was a thing the hiking partner had previously indicated would be of great interest- had a great time there also; free admission for the both of us because we are teachers, huzzah!
