Cucamonga peak

I have always wanted to summit this mountain, as I have always seen pictures and I'm amazed of the amazing views.

Day started at 3.50am woke up got all geared up and headed for a 2.20 minute drive to reach the trailhead. Traffic wasn't bad. The parking lot had only a couple of cars I believe 2 more. I got my dog gear up for we headed for a hike.

We filled out the day permit and started our ascend.  Beautiful trail, really rocky, I wasn't expecting so many rocks. The reason I didn't do this hike earlier was because of the rock issue, I was worried about my dogs paws but I came prepared just in case she cut her paws.  As you ascend a beautiful spring is to your right followed up with some cool looking cabins.  We passed a group of 4 people at the Cucamonga wilderness, a little further we passed another hiker, sweet lady if I do say. We keep going and we encounter 1 more hiker once again we passed him. As we keep ascending the mountain it keep getting steeper. Once at the saddle we regrouped had sone liquids and a little snack for Roxy. We stayed there for about 20 minutes. We then started our ascend Once again. What they don't tell you is that in order to get to Cucamonga you need to decend and then ascend Once again. The decending felt great on my calves but sooner or later you have to start going up again. The trail got narrow and at some parts a bit dangerous with the sand trail infront of you. At one part I slipped and the was a bit of an sand avalanche the trail disappeared for a while. I thought if I'm not careful this will be my day. But I am not prepared to perish just yet. Once we got to the switchbacks the air picked up and I felt like we might needed to turn back, but as I looked at Roxy face I asked her if she wanted to continue she looked at me look at the trail and started walking so I took that as we aren't finish yet. Once we reached the final ascend I was willing to follow the trail so I keep going without realizing I had passed our turn I felt like it wasn't right so we went back and started pushing up. I was dreading it the wind was getting stronger and colder but we managed to summit. Once at the summit it was way too windy and I didn't have time to get alot of footage. We got under some rocks to cover ourselfs from the wind so we can had some snacks and water. The views are just amazing I wish I could enjoy it longer but I was freezing since I had pretty much sweated gallons and the cold wind didn't made it any better. Over all I will redoit for next challenge.
