For some reason, it made total sense to me to carry up 50lbs of gear up CP. I just signed up for 2021 & 2022 @spartan Trifecta and I thought it'll be good training LMAO 😂
I don't usually hike on Saturdays and this late (10ish). Icehouse parking was packed! I had to park half a mile away and run back to the trailhead.
That 50lbs gear really got to me 😆 I had to take naps at the saddle and mini saddle (I was letting the sun pass as well). It was so hot, I was melting 🥵 On a positive note, I never thought of turning around. It was just more tiring than just hiking with our day pack. It was also good to slow down since we had one of us backpacking for the very first time with a heavy gear.
Summit was empty when we arrived. Got to chill for a good hour then @elizabeth_infocus and co showed up to party! 😎🤘 A lot more people showed up to camp at the summit. Didn't expect CP to be so popular to backpackers.
Woke up super early to catch the sunrise. Got to meet @teachersthattrek @jozzay_hikes and co! Send me your IGs guys. Enjoyed chatting with your crew.
We recorded a hyperlapse and it was epic AF. Check the last video. Enjoy.
ℹ️ Quick note.
You need an overnight permit and fire permit (for stoves) to camp here. Bumped into a ranger for the first time. They're checking.
