Mount Sizer is the highest point on the large ridgeline inside Henry Coe State Park. It was about a 15 mile loop with steep vertical gains. There is one section of Hobbs Road about 3 or 4 miles into the hike i nicknamed the “stairway to heaven” A. because you go almost straight up and B. because you feel, at times, that this might be the end.. jk. Its a pretty unforgiving hike, considering the Stairway is early into the hike and any uphill climbing after that is immediately felt on the legs.

This is a great hike for athletic prowess but the view from Mount Sizers peak isnt as spectacular as the other peaks in the challenge. There is a nice view of the park and its natural beauty but on a clear day, not many landmarks of note can be seen.

There were high winds on the day i went, especially at the top of the ridgeline which made the rolling grassy hills very peaceful to look at. Frog Lake was also a nice spot to stop and stare. I also took the Jackass trail (yes thats the actual name) for some single track trail. It got a bit technical but i prefered it after being on the fire road at the ridge top for so long.
