This is my first year doing the Six-Pack of Peaks challenge. I started it as a way to gain benchmarks for my big goal of summiting Denali in 2024. Along the way, I am hiking these miles for more then just ‘to climb a mountain' but to also raise money for the Marine Reconnaissance Foundation. I want to do more then just say, “thank you for your service”. I want to be the action of the words “never above you, never below you, always beside you”. So, my first goal is to help the Foundation send 6 Gold Star Families to this year's retreat in April. Please consider helping me (see Instagram link for more info). Anyway, about the hike today:

Mt. Wilson Trailhead is always a well manicured trail. My favorite part about this trail/mountain is that you gain near all the elevation of the mountain! Weather today was cool at the bottom and cold at the top. Not many hikers out today, but rain, full moon, and Oscars night may have minimized the foot traffic.

Clouds moved in as the morning bloomed into afternoon. Hail began to come down like bullet ice and that made me smile! Thunder clapped through the sky as rain drops wet the trail for the hours on my decent. The rain brought out the wild sent of herbs and vegetation making me hungry!! Such a beautiful day to hike a mountain!
