The trail starts off flat and shaded through the woods and hillsides where the tarantulas burrow. It was mating season so we were lucky enough to see one!

Hot. Full sun. Vertical for a long time! The wildfire smoke was very present as we ascended, but then dissipated as we climbed higher. The view was beautiful but not far into the distance  due to the smoke,  Coming down was hard on my knees and I regretted not bringing my hiking poles. A great day, plus I was able to advance on completing my Bay Area Ridge challenge.
