The El Dorado Fire broke out as we were ascending and there were several discussions with other hikers about whether we needed to turn back or not. Ultimately we determined that there was minimal risk of the fire reaching the trailhead that day and we kept climbing up…and up….and up.
The most mentally and physically draining hike in the challenge was also the most rewarding and being able to share the experience with these amazing humans made every step worth it.
