4th Peak completed out of #SixPackofPeaksChallenge?Rose Peak, Livermore 4.21.18
First time hiking Ohlone Wilderness trail in Jan. 2015 to hike Murietta Falls, I remember saying, I would never do this trail ever again. Guess, I was wrong! I came back to complete #SixPackPeakChallenge
The first five miles was all uphill climb which was brutal but was rewarded with scenic green hills and beautiful wildflowers. The trail was open space with very little shade that the sun beaming down on us, it was hot! At 15 miles, we've all ran out if water, not knowing we had six more miles to go. We were tired and dehydrated but we all made it back safely. 21 miles in 9.5hrs, Done!.

  1. Glad you made it back okay, @mitch-gutz! Just so you know, there is water near each of the camps along the way. Ideally you’d want to filter it, but if it comes down to being dehydrated or possibly getting a bug, I’d drink the water.

Of course, it’s a great idea to always carry some form of water purification. Even iodine will work in a pinch, and hardly takes any room or weight. Okay, I’m off my soapbox. 😉

Congrats on completing what I think is probably the hardest peak in the pack!
