This hike is not a hike, but a never ending climb that is split into 5 sections, which get harder and steeper as you go up. And for the difficulty of this climb, I can’t believe there were so many people doing this. I saw it all on this climb: tourists, people of all ages, people doing this climb multiple times all day, people that looked that they never hiked before, people doing this with one water bottle, no mask wearing people, and we also got to see a SAR rescue with a helicopter to rescue a guy who got cramps and couldn’t hike down. I couldn’t really believe everything I saw while climbing up to the top. It has great views of Phoenix, but I don’t know if this climb is worth the amount of people climbing it. I would recommend hiking boots, not the slippery sneakers I saw on most people, and gloves to help you climb. Note that this hike will take more than a couple of hours because it’s a climb, not a hike. Also, please bring lots of liquids and salt/mustard to help with the cramping because SAR should not be taking you down the mountain! ????????‍♀️
