Due to the pandemic, we are still very reluctant to stay overnight anywhere we go hiking, but we really wanted to go see Mount Washington. So, I found the compromise of hiking Alpine Garden trail to Tuckerman Ravine to the summit. We have a 4 1/2 drive to the mountain, and I just could not see us drive, hike 8 hours and then drive back for 4 1/2. Since I have also never been to Mount Washington before, it was really hard for me to gauge the full scale of hikes.

But let me tell you the Alpine Garden Trail is absolutely fabulous. Gorgeous views, beautiful flowers, just fantastic. Once we merged onto Tuckerman Ravine it was a steep incline. Climbing bare rocks straight up. Oh, and did I mention that it was quite windy, cold, and super cloudy? It still took us a good 2 hours to reach the summit which was completely immersed in clouds. We stood in line to get our (mandatory) picture with the summit sign but it was cold and crowded, so we quickly started our descent back to the car.

This has been such a super experience for us to participate in the Six-Pack of Peaks Challenge. We would have not gone out on our day-long excursions if it weren't for the program that gave us the motivation and incentive. So fun and wonderful program! Thank you for putting it out there. Can't wait for next year! 🙂
