Dan and I started out from the Ohlone College Parking garage at 8 am. It was 35* F and extremely windy. I had 3 layers of shirts on and a light jacket as well as a beanie and gloves. The infamous fog did not disappoint today and the wind pushed it right into our faces. It condensed on my mustache and started dripping off. I'm surprised it didn't freeze up like you always see of men in the Winter snow. We did see a little bit of frozen ground here and there on our way up which became a hazard later when it melted and caused very slippery mud for us on the way down. Dan fell a few times but luckily he did get hurt. Got a little sun at the top of Mission Peak but the wind was still a-blowin and kept us on out layers.

This hike completed the 52 Hike Challenge for me so I opened my envelope and found my medal from them. I put it on at the top and Dan took a few pix for me as we sat and ate a few snacks. As usual, the pole was a hit for pix and even more so now because someone had placed a Christmas tree next to it. We stuck to the highest spot and left the tree in the background of our pix. We started down and my knee started hurting with every step down, mostly because of the steepness at the top. It got a little better as the pitch lessened but picked up the last quarter mile at the end. We were able to drop a layer about 30 minutes from the end…Amazing!
