Wow! I can’t believe I grew up in Tucson & didn’t know about this gem!
The trail is in fantastic condition & was a welcome site after “cableing” myself up Picacho Peak a couple of days past. On the way up there are loose rocks/slate but as you near the Peak the trail is very smooth. If you choose to do the loop instead of returning on Kings Canyon, your feet will thank you as it is smooth most of the way down.
If you are a mining or history buff keep your eye out (off the trail) for stone structures & barbed wire fences which are protected abandoned mine shafts. Amazing people found there way up there!
The blooming cactus & flowers were incredible! So many different ones in one place. Such a treat!
Great directions for the trail/turns- thank you!
