There Might Be Mud

Trailhead:

Sutton Mountain

Type of Hike:

Day hike

Trail Conditions:

Minor obstacles posing few problems

ROAD:

Road suitable for all vehicles

Bugs:

No bugs

Snow:

Intermittent snow – not hard to cross

Cloudy day but otherwise perfect temperature for hiking. The trailhead and sections of the trail were quite muddy. I was very glad I brought a fresh pair of shoes for the drive home.

Hiked with a wonderful crew from the Bend Hiking Meetup. Hope we get to hike together again soon! And enjoyed post-hike lunch at Tiger City Brewing in nearby Mitchell.

Idl’d like to go back and hike this again when the wildflowers are blooming in a month or two.

  1. Hi Jeff – good pics! My husband and I went yesterday (Mon Feb 6) and had a mostly sunny, cool, windless day for the hike 🙂 The mud was pretty crazy though! The local 4-legged hike guide accompanied us, just as he/she did all other recent hikers, and added to the fun of this hike. In 2021 I hiked this route in early May, and the wildflowers were lovely, especially the hedgehog cactus.

    1. Thanks Valoree! Yes, I hiked this when the cactus were blooming last year. I’ll probably go back again in early April (hopefully with less mud). Now to go attempt to get the rest of the mud off my boots…. 😅
