This was a beautiful cold, clear, wind free day. There was no problem finding parking, it was relatively empty upon arrival around noon. We noticed patches of snow on the surrounding mountains, unsure of just how snowy this Peak would be, we decided to add a few extra layers and jackets on top of our casual hiking clothes. The trailhead was very close to the parking lot, just on the left side of the highway. As we began the hike, it was apparent that we were in for a much different hike than we anticipated. This particular trail was completely covered in a beautiful, fresh layer of snow. The snow was a bit crusty, but with a light powder once we got some elevation. It was evident that no people had been up this Peak today, as the snow was untouched ready for us to make the first imprint. It took about 3.5 hours to reach the peak. Our shoes and clothes held up pretty well in the snow for the most part of the hike. However, for anyone that is preparing to hike this Peak in the snow I would highly recommend wearing snow or hiking boots, as we took quite a few falls and slips on the way down. All in all, it was a beautiful day and if you hit it right this trip is worth a try.
