Peak #2! I went out for this 9-ish mile jog, starting from the Bald Mountain parking lot, with the goal of summiting Mt Umunhum another time, but this time for this challenge that friend Michael got me plugged into. We had bagged Mt Sizer in Henry Coe last weekend. That is one of the two toughest peaks to get to with over 4k+ elevation climb and 14+ miles (we made it nearly 20 but doing some geocaching excursions). So picking up Mt Umunhum (from the Bald parking lot, at least) was much more manageable. It was a very enjoyable endeavor, only 4 more peaks to go, but they're all far away. Nominally this is a 7.4 mile round trip, but I had started with an eastward jaunt from the parking lot to pick up one geocache, then began the ascent. Then I walked around the top to enjoy the views. I believe I passed 4 Six Packers near the trailhead as they were talking about other folks' trail reports. They were hiking and I was jogging so I saw them again on my way down. Other than them and one other person, I had the beautiful gently sloped trail to myself. Since the grade was gentle I was able to jog nearly the whole way, with only 3 caching stops. I made it up in about one hour, and back down in 50 minutes. The trail has three nicely built and maintained bridges, the second one over a healthy rushing stream. Other than a few muddy spots the trail was dry, it not having rained in about one week. Thanks for brining me out! Two down in under two weeks, but I think getting to the other 4 will be more of a challenge.
