Back to Mt. Umunhum this morning to help a friend notch their third summit for the challenge. We started just after 7AM with only a couple of cars in the lot but by 8:30, it looked nearly full.
The drive up was already an adventure as we spotted multiple deer, including one just chilling in the parking lot like it owned the place. On the trail: tons of lizards, squirrels, and other critters scurrying around. And the real showstopper? One of our friends spotted a large rattlesnake crossing the trail.
Trail was in excellent condition with plenty of shade to keep things comfortable. Started off with that dreamy inversion layer, but the clouds burned off by the time we wrapped up, leaving us with clear skies and a perfect view.
Another beautiful morning in the South Bay and this one came with a little extra spice.
