We started the hike around 6am. The lot was full, so we parked on the road about 1/4 mile down from the lot. The weather at the start was perfect for hiking. There trail had some wildflowers, which were pretty. Almost from the start you get pretty nice views of the hills and canyon. The trail follows a nice creek with small waterfalls.  Eventually, the trail becomes a little steeper and you move up switchbacks. Continuing up, you continue to get views of the surrounding mountains and canyon. Icehouse Saddle is a nice place to rest, eat, and take a break. From here we took the cucamonga peak trail to continue to the peak. As you climb up switchbacks you have really beautiful view of the trees and hills below. Continuing on, you reach a spot that overlooks the city below and is a nice place to take a break. From here, you continue on with more switchbacks which are a little bit steeper than the previous ones you hiked up. The last stretch of switchbacks are steeper as you make the las push to the top of the peak. Once at the peak, you can take in a number of panoramic views and have several selfie ops with the cucamonga peak sign, and rocks that overhang the valley below.  We had a really nice break and lunch after we had explored the peak and taken selfies and group pics. The hike down was not too bad, except that it was pretty hot with very little shade. I would highly recommend you bring a lot of water for the warmer months. I packed about 3L of water. The trail was beautiful with all the views!
