I hiked Volcan Mountain with 2 other hikers for a nice Sunday hike for our first of six peaks. It was a nice sunny day with cool temperatures. It was a 45 minute drive to the trailhead from San Diego. The trail was in great condition, no snow with exception of some mud and ice. I would say this hike will be the easiest of our six peaks. We took the main trail up, steady incline on the way up, wide trail and not much traffic. We took the Fair Oaks Trail down, which was much more narrow and had more hikers. Once we reached the summit, it was mostly flat and you had the views of the east and west mountains.
