This was my first time to try a different trailhead to Wasson Peak. On prior hikes to Wasson I had done it from Kings Canyon. On this day though I went to the Visitor Center to consult with the rangers on what is the shortest trail to Wasson Peak. They recommended Sendero Esperanza. I took the rangers' recommendation and drove to the Sendero Esperanza trailhead. The last part of the road to the trailhead was unpaved but passable.  I parked the car and headed up the peak. This trail was definitely more gradual compared with the route from the Kings Canyon trailhead. The weather was cloudy but there was no forecast of rain so I continued.  There were only a few hikers on the trail. The day was cloudy but at times it looked like the sun would burst through. I got to the peak and took my photos but I didn't stay there too long since it got windy up there and it looked like it would start to rain.  On the way back, light rain fell but since I had packed a rain jacket I just put it on.  On the way back to the car, I saw a double rainbow. There were wildflowers to be seen during the hike. I made it back to my car happy.
