Due to the Covid-19 shut downs, this was one of our hardest peaks to summit. We had originally planned to make it a weekend trip in April but as life around us shut down and hotels, travel and trails were closed we found it nearly impossible to do this hike. We checked the Palm Springs Tramway website frequently, to see if they had opened back up. We discovered that we could back pack it and do an over night but then the fires happened and closed down many of our trails. Every bump in the road that could have happened, happened. In late October we noticed that the tramway had opened back up and we immediately hopped on the first available tickets to finally check off this final peak of our challenge.

The day was gorgeous and to fit in with our theme of the other 5 hikes, it was covered in snow. We laughed about how ironic it all felt. The hike was relatively easy for us, minus the snow and ice aspect. We made it round trip in really good time and met some fun people a long the way. We enjoyed a fun moment in the hideway cabin and there's something about being in the mountains with you that just feels like home. Our hearts were happy. We had completed what we had set out to do this year. It wasn't easy. We had to be creative. We had to dig down and persevere. We did it. We did it together.
