Elevation gain was almost immediate. For me, this wasn't a walking hike, it was a climbing hike. Plan on stair climb almost the entire way up. Lots of smooth rock so have shoes with good traction. Hiking poles saved me on most of the trail but did hinder me on several occasions during the steep climbs. 3 false summits. I was hoping for a nice resting spot at the top but there were lots of tiny rocks and bushes so only a few areas to sit and rest. Views on the way up were amazing. Make sure you stop often or catch them on the way down.
