Couldn't have picked a better day for today's hikes. Excellent weather. A little warm in the afternoon on the descent, but a light wind and some shady areas helped with that.

I began this hike right around 6am. There was only one other vehicle in the parking lot. I basically had the trail all to myself all the way to the summit. I didn't see any hikers until the final approach to San G. I summited right around 11 am and spend about an hour there just relaxing and chatting.

There were easily about 15 to 20 other hikers coming and going while I was there. Most came up from Vivian Creek and one actually came up the same route I did. I don't believe anyone had taken South Fork or Momyer. Several hikers were prepping/training for their upcoming Mount Whitney trips. In fact, one of them will be doing Whitney this coming Tuesday, June 14th. Another will be attempting her 7th Whitney summit. There was another hiker prepping for the JMT and the rest of us were just out doing what we love. 🙂

Trail conditions were great. There were two small patches of snow about Mineshaft Saddle, but before the C47 Monument. Both easily passible. The lower elevation on the Fish Creek trail had several downed trees which required a little effort to get over or go around.

There was still plenty of water for filtering at about the 1 mile mark and then again at the 2.6 mile mark. If someone were staying at the Fish Creek Campsite, they would only need to walk up the trail about 1/8 of a mile to filter water. That said, with temps rising and no rain in sight, the water won't last long.
