Chose the Little Santa Anita Canyon trailhead as I have done ti from Chantry flats, and everyone does it from there.  Started out at 7ish and just took the ole sweet time getting there.  The temp was just right and the trail did not disappoint- uphill.  The last mile or so the Poodle Dog Brush was alive, well and close to the trail.  There were a couple of tough parts, one a stream crossing, and the other a downed tree.  I'm not much of a limbo guy, but made it.

Once we got to the parking lot we had to find the sign.  Follow the paved road east until you see a sign for Echo rock and the Sturdevant trail.  Follow the trail along the fence until you are given a choice to go downhill- nope! make the left and walk a short distance to the sign and a great view.
