What an amazing day on Wilson! We commenced the hike at 7AM from the Chantry Flats trailhead and made it to the summit in about 4 hours, stopping a few times to take pictures, admire the many salamanders we encountered and we also made a slight detour to visit the beautiful Sturtevant Falls. The weather was optimal and made for a perfect and comfortable ascent and descent. We enjoyed our packed lunches at the Cosmic Cafe picnic tables, took some more photos at the top and then headed down. Seven hours total. This was our first peak last year in the six-pack-of-peaks challenge and it took us nine hours and we were so anxious about making wrong turns, etc…Definitely easier the second time around and I was able to thoroughly enjoy myself and appreciate all the beauty around me. We only encountered one other hiker on the way up and a few hikers on the way down. I highly recommend going on a week day if you can!
