Hike Log

You will be sorry if you skipped leg day

Trailhead:

East Squaw Peak Drive

Trail Conditions:

ROAD:

Bugs:

Snow:

A short hike with plenty of elevation gain. You walk directly on the very uneven bedrock, and much of the trail is like climbing stairs. Took me less then 2 hours in total. Nice views over the city, I had a magnificent and dramatic sunset: as the sun was setting in the west, the peaks in the east caught the last bit of light. This was the first of my Arizo Sixpack hikes, and was meant to be a warmup for more to come in next few days.

Footnote about access: the main parking site for the trailhead is under renovation and will be closed for probably the entire season. There is a smaller parking site with ports potty just a bit south, and another one further up the road. Limited street parking is allowed. This is a popular hike, even at Thanksgiving afternoon, so expect weekends to be very busy.
